Urgent Safety Notice: Blasting Operations City-owned site blasting will be occurring adjacent to our building. Please exercise extra caution around the school grounds. No children are permitted on the playground until further notice.
Community Appreciation & Opportunities
Cross Country Thanks: A big thank you to all the families and community members who came out to support our Cross Country event!
Concessions Shout-Out: Huge appreciation to Robin Ross and Anthony Ross for stepping up to serve and sell out nachos! As a reminder, student activities rely on family support, it takes a village, and we strongly encourage all families with students in activities to pitch in so our programs can thrive.
Employee of the Month Committee: We are launching an "Employee of the Month" program to celebrate our dedicated staff. We are looking for parent volunteers to join a committee to help with nominations for the October board meeting. If you would like to serve, please reach out to us directly!
October Student of the Month Theme Our October theme is "I toowú klatseen" (Strengthen Your Spirit).
Focus Pillars: Persevere (Keep going, even when it’s hard), Make Positive Choices (Believe in yourself and do what’s right), and Lift Others Up (Use your strength to support and encourage others).
We look forward to celebrating our students at the October 8th School Board Meeting
Community & Student Opportunity: Lingit Speakers Cohort (Sept 19–23) L’geik’i (Heather Mills) and a large cohort of Lingit speakers from the Goldbelt Heritage Foundation will be in Kake, convening at the Cannery Gathering Space with Dr. Kaanak. They are eager to involve our students and families!

Schedules, Testing & Tech Updates
MAP Testing Schedule: MAP Testing has been pushed back one week. We will share the updated testing schedule soon.
Preschool Launch: Our District Pre-K Program begins Monday, September 14th (running Monday–Thursday, 12:30–2:30 PM). Our Pre-K teachers are Ms. Angel, Ms. Nikki, and Ms. Sylvia.
High School Attendance & Lunch: If your high school student arrives late to school, please remind them to check in directly with Robin in the office so she can update attendance and the daily lunch count.
Blocksi Monitoring (Grades 7–12): Blocksi is active to support safe digital learning for 7th–12th graders. If your student experiences technical issues, please have them contact Cam.
Upcoming Events
School Picture Day: Friday, September 18th. Elementary pictures will take place in the Art/Science room.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. We encourage families to talk with their students about spreading messages of hope, kindness, and positivity so every child knows they are not alone and help is always available.
Please consider downloading the AK Safe app on your family devices and encouraging your students to utilize it if they ever need support or reporting tools.
